To many people, the Queen Charlotte Islands represent the very best sportfishing available in the Northwest. Our fishing grounds along the north coast of The Charlottes' largest island are areas in which Coho salmon (Silver salmon), Chinook salmon (King salmon), Halibut, Ling cod and Rockfish are available in abundance. It is a place where sighting whales, sea lions and a wealth of other oceanic life is commonplace. Bald Eagles typically line the shore near our harbour in Masset and soar overhead while fishing, occasionally diving down to snatch at a roiling ball of needlefish or herring pushed to the surface by marauding salmon.

In our opinion, ocean fishing out of Masset is one of the best kept secrets in the pacific salmon fishing world and represents incredible value! Traditionally, when anglers think of fishing in the Queen Charlotte Islands, they think of the well marketed and much more expensive remote lodges of Langara Island or Naden Harbour. These lodges, while offering great fishing, are financially out of reach of most people. On the other hand, by basing our ocean fishing charters out of Masset, Graham Island Sportfishing offers access to the same north coast fishing grounds as the remote lodges at a much more affordable price. Furthermore, our fishing spots tend to be much less crowded than those found in "the remote" areas, meaning a more enjoyable experience and in many cases, MORE FISH.

You will be using quality equipment on arguably the most productive salmon fishing waters in North America (please see our Rates & Dates page to see what species are available during our ocean fishing season) When fishing for Chinook salmon and Coho salmon, we typically use downriggers, paired with traditional BC mooching rod/reel combos to provide the best success and the highest level of excitement. Our halibut/groundfish techniques vary depending on conditions, but also utilize high quality and well maintained tackle.
